The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch soccer team lost a 7-0 contest to the DuBois Area Beavers on a muddy, cold, wet and windy Saturday morning at the SMAHS soccer field.
The Beavers were the aggressors in the first half of the contest as they were able to build a 5-0 lead at the half.
DuBois got on the board at the 31:54 mark to take the 1-0 lead.
As both teams battled their way through the water and mud, neither mounted much of an offensive threat.
DuBois made the score 2-0 at the 16:08 mark as the shot went over the keeperâ€™s head.
A little over two minutes later found the Beavers adding to their total to take a 3-0 lead.
With 4:40 left in the first half, DuBois scored again to take a 4-0 lead.
DuBois made the halftime score 5-0 as they scored with 2:04 left in the first half.
DuBois had 10 shots on goal in the first half compared to two for the Dutchmen. Dutch keeper Brett Lanzel had three saves. The Beavers had eight corner kicks to the Dutchmenâ€™s one.
The second half saw a DuBois shot rattle off the post around the 34-minute mark, but it bounced away. Dutchman Dalton Gennocro had a shot go just wide with 22:35 left in the match.
DuBois made the score 6-0 with 9:44 left in the contest as the shot made it over the Dutch keeperâ€™s outstretched arm.
DuBois made the score 7-0 when they scored with about nine minutes left in the contest as both coaches went to their benches.
DuBois outshot St. Marys 10-4 in the second half. Dutch keeper Josh Burns came up with six saves. DuBois had four corner kicks to the Dutchmenâ€™s one.
The Dutchmen, now 8-9 on the season, will close out their regular season on Thursday when they play host to the Port Allegany Gators at 4 p.m. at the SMAHS soccer field.
