Photo by Becky Polaski St. Marys Area head coach Tony Azzato, 7, talks to the seven senior members of his squad after their runner-up finish in the District 9 Class AAA title game on Tuesday afternoon in Brockway. Senior members of the team are Rudy Gleixner, Shane Haberberger, Alexx Tyger, Lucas Lovenduski, Anthony Cesa, Caleb Bennett, and Nick Burdick.

Headed into the bottom of the seventh inning with a 4-1 lead, St. Marys Area looked set to pull off an upset of top seeded Punxsutawney to claim the D9 Class AAA baseball title. The Chucks had other plans though and took advantage of a few miscues to tie the game and send it into extra innings. From there, the Dutchmen tried again to seal the victory as they pulled ahead 5-4 in the top of the ninth, only to see the Chucks come right back and walk off for the 6-5 win in the bottom of the inning.
