The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch tennis team improved to 4-2 on the season with an 8-1 victory over the Johnsonburg Rams Thursday afternoon at the SMAHS courts.
At first singles, Dutchman Nathan Hansen won his match 6-3, 6-1 over John Carnovale.
At second singles, Brandon Romain of the Dutch defeated Mason Martonik 6-0, 6-0.
At third singles, Keith Meyer of the Dutch won his match 6-2, 6-1 over J.P. Allegretto.
Brandon Orr of the Dutch won his match 6-0, 6-1 over Shane Bickford at fourth singles.
At fifth singles, Michael Fox of the Dutch defeated Nate Fields 6-0, 6-0.
At first doubles, SMA’s Evan Lepovetsky and Michael Brennen defeated J.P. Allegretto and Mason Martonik 8-2.
At second doubles, Johnsonburg’s John Carnovale and Shane Bickford defeated Dalton Gennocro and Eric Uhl 8-4.
Due to the lack of players, the Rams forfeited third and fourth doubles to the Dutch, making the final score 8-1.
“Again the boys played a good match. The younger players are definitely coming into their own,” said St. Marys coach Sue Lepovetsky.
The Dutch will travel to Bradford Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. match against the Owls.
