Earl C. Lecker

November 1, 2012

Earl C. Lecker, 78, of St. Marys, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 while visiting his daughter, Amy Lecker Lynn, in Bristow, Va.
Earl was born May 27, 1934 in St. Marys, a son of the late Norbert and Caroline Lecker, and was one of 11 children.
On Nov. 21, 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War. He devoted four years of his life serving our country, and was very proud to be a Korean War veteran.
Shortly before being honorably discharged from the Navy, he met the love of his life, and on Jan. 12, 1956, he married Grace M. Remick, who preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2010.
Mr. Lecker resided the majority of his life in St. Marys, and was self-employed as a contractor/plasterer, although it is his plastering for which he is most-well known. With skillful hands, and his artistic talent, Earl Lecker can be accredited for plastering the greater part of all homes in St. Marys and the surrounding areas.
Earl’s passion in life was his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his brand-new great grandson, and his beloved shelties, Princess and Angel, who were his constant companions and gave him much comfort following the passing of his beloved wife, Grace.
Earl is survived by his four children, Keith Lecker and his wife Judy of St. Marys, Cindy, Mrs. David Brock of State College, Candy Lecker Lease of DuBois, and Amy Lecker Lynn, Mrs. Timothy Lynn, of Bristow, Va.
In addition, Earl is the proud Papa of 11 grandchildren, Brian Smith, Courtney Lecker, Melissa Smith Ovaska, Megan Shulik, Chelsea Retzer, Missy Murray, Michael Smith, Nicky Davido, Erin Brock, Gabriel Lynn and Joseph Lease. He recently also became a very proud great-“pompa” to  Grayson Lee Smith. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Lecker, and his wife Linda of St. Marys; and three sisters, Sr. Mary David, O.S.B, of St. Marys, Marian Mertz of St. Marys and Jane Moylan of DuBois.
In addition to his wife of more than 54 years, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, LaVern and Richard Lecker; a sister, Bernice Kline, and a sister in early childhood, Martha Lecker.
In accordance with his wishes, funeral services for Earl C. Lecker will be held privately.  Military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Kersey.
