ECC’s Kristy Hanes qualifies for PIAA Western Regional

Elk County Catholic’s Kristy Hanes qualified for the PIAA Girls’ Western Regional Golf Tournament by tying for second place at Tuesday’s District 9 Girls’ Golf Championship held at Kane. The top three golfers qualify for the Western Regional.
The Western Regional is set for Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Toms Run Golf Course in Blairsville.
Redbank Valley’s Samantha Dinger placed first with her 84. Hanes and Union’s Larissa Roberts tied for second with 87s.
Bradford’s Kate Colella and Kane’s Kyla Hoag tied for fourth with 88s. Ashley Mackey of Bradford was sixth with a 93. Andrea Hoover of Cranberry was seventh with 100, while Angela Smoulder of Coudersport was seventh with a 102. Brooke Dunsmore of Cameron County was ninth with a 103. Tied for 10th were Jordan Lehmen of Clearfield and Lauren Giavedoni of Punxsy with 106s.
Ridgway’s Brittanei Neubert was 18th with a 120 and Selena Scarnati was 22nd with a 140.
Punxsutawney won the team title with a 445 total. Clearfield was second with 465, followed by Bradford 466 and Kane 477.
From the Western Regional, a total of 11 girls will advance to the state tournament in York on Oct. 23-25 at Heritage Hills.
