Elk County Catholic alumni of all ages are invited to participate in the first annual ECC Alumni Spirit Night on Friday, Feb. 11.
As part of the event, alumni are encouraged to sport their alma mater's colors to the boys' basketball matchup against St. Marys Area High School, with the junior varsity game beginning at 6 p.m. and varsity game tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
To keep the spirit going after the game, a social for alumni and friends is being held at the CMF Grill Room, located at the corner of S. St. Marys and East Mill streets, starting around 9:30 p.m.
All alumni will receive a beverage ticket, with snacks and pizza provided for all in attendance.
"This is not a fundraiser. It is truly just a fun night out," said Paula Fritz Eddy, a member of the ECC Alumni Association.
In addition, the alumni association is working with The River 98.9 radio station in hosting the "98 Jet Away Give Away" featuring a cash prize. The Jet Away contest will take place during halftime of the game, as alumni must construct a paper airplane out of provided paper, then toss their creations onto the court. The jet landing the farthest away wins the prize. Additional door prizes and other game chances are also being offered at the social.
"The only cost to alumni is their game ticket," noted Eddy.
She added that alumni can opt to skip the game and just attend the social if they choose.
