The Elk County Catholic track and field teams swept the St. Marys Area squads Thursday in a meet held at the ECCHS track and field complex.

In the boys’ meet, Elk Catholic was led by quadruple winners Dan Steudler and Jared Schaut. Steudler won the 400 dash, 800 run and was a member of the 1600 and 3200 relay teams. Schaut won the 200 dash, 300 hurdles, triple jump and was a member of the winning 1600 relay team.

“We definitely took some steps forward at today’s meet,” said ECCHS coach John Schneider.
“The sunny day was a welcome change from our previous meets and made it possible for us to move ahead with quite a few personal bests and season’s bests.
“The rivalry with St. Marys brings out the best from both of our squads and made for some very exciting races. Next week’s inaugural District 9 League meet will give us another chance to improve before our invitational at Lock Haven.”
The Lady Crusaders were led by triple winner Abbi Petrosky, who won the 100 and 300 hurdles and was a member of the winning 1600 relay.
Double winners for the Lady Crusaders were Megan Dornisch in the shot put and discus, Emma Daghir in the high jump and 400 dash, Marla Scacchitti in the 100 dash and 400 relay, Maggie Sorg in the 1600 and 3200 runs, Molly Eshbach in the long and triple jumps, Kennedy Weisner in the 400 dash and 800 run and Tess Onink in the 200 dash and 1600 relay.

Both schools return to action in the District 9 League meet at DuBois next Tuesday. That meet is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
