ECC volleyball to host Otto-Eldred Thursday

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team will open play in the District 9-A tournament on Thursday by hosting the Otto-Eldred Lady Terrors.
Elk Catholic, the top seed, received a bye on Tuesday. Eighth-seeded Otto-Eldred beat ninth-seeded Curwensville 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-19).
In other action last night, fourth seed AC Valley beat 13th seed North Clarion 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22), 12th seed Johnsonburg beat fifth seed Cranberry 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-16), second seed Oswayo Valley beat 15th seed Sheffield 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-18), seventh seed Coudersport beat 10th seed Union 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-16), third seed Clarion ousted 14th seed Smethport 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) and sixth seed Ridgway defeated 11th seed Redbank Valley 3-1 (25-12, 18-25, 25-12, 25-18).
Thursday’s pairings are Otto-Eldred at ECCHS, Johnsonburg at AC Valley, Coudersport at Oswayo Valley and Ridgway at Clarion.
All matches are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. starts. Admission will be $5 for adults and $2 for students.
