A large bonfire blazes atop the hillside behind Elk County Catholic High School. The bonfire marked the conclusion of the school's annual Family Picnic held Wednesday evening.

Penn State Football's annual Media Day took place Thursday beginning with Head Coach Bill O'Brien's inaugural press conference. O'Brien emphasized the need for the program, players and school to move forward in light of harsh NCAA sanctions imposed following the Jerry Sandusky scandal. He stated the need for the continued leadership of the seniors while noting the talent of several underclassman players.")
