Edna M. Ginther

Edna M. Ginther, 85, of 669 Washington Street, died at her home on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 following an illness of the past several months.
She was born May 4, 1926 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Frank C. and Anna Loichinger Geeck.
On August 16, 1947 in St. Mary's Church Rectory, she married the late Richard Ginther, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2005.
Mrs. Ginther was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the St. Mary's Church. She graduated from Central High School, Class of 1944. She worked at Stackpole Carbon Company for more than 15 years. She and her husband enjoyed the time they spent together volunteering for Meals on Wheels. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her beloved dog. She was an avid card player and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends for a game of cards.  She was the last member of her immediate family. 
She is survived by four sons, Steven Ginther and his wife Barbara of St. Marys, Raymond Ginther and his wife Lynda of McKeesport,
Paul Ginther and his wife Judy of Ludlow, and Kenneth Ginther of St. Marys; three daughters, Marcia, Mrs. Paul Bauer of Halifax, Mass.,
Lucy, Mrs. William Buckley of Middleboro, Mass., and Patricia, Mrs. Richard Fledderman of Kersey; 12 grandchildren, Cristin (Mike) Lilley, Dr. Greg (Ellen) Bauer, Austin Bauer, Geoff Bauer, Chris Bauer, Tammy Ginther, Amy (Tim) Jeffcoat, Karen, Julie and Tia Spetaccino and April and Gary Fledderman; three step-grandchildren, Andrew Hughey, and Mark and Kyle Buckley; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Carl, in infancy; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Edward Geeck, who was her twin brother; four sisters; Florence Mallison, Dorothy Geeck, Helen Braver and Ruth Hudson; and a grandson, Jeffrey Ginther.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edna M. Ginther will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, OSB, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
