Edward C. Dankmyer Jr.

Edward C. Dankmyer Jr., 82, of Hanover, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, Hanover.
Born October 23, 1930 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Helen C. (O’Conner) Dankmyer.
He was the loving husband of Faith A. (Eckert) Dankmyer of Corry.
He was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School in Latrobe. He served his country proudly from 1952-1954 and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Dankmyer retired after 25 years of service in forestry. During this time, he was employed by Stackpole of St. Marys.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover. He also enjoyed volunteering his time and talents at the Guthrie Memorial Library and the Codorus State Park, both of Hanover.
He will be remembered by many as a very loving grandfather and uncle.
In addition to his wife Faith, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Katherine L. Rudy and her husband Curt of Hanover; his stepson, Joe Kelly and his wife Tina of Mansfield; five grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Frederick Dankmyer of Amaganset, N.Y.; his sisters, Mrs. Jane Eacobacci of Dennis Port, Mass. and Ms. Nancy Casey of Oakton, Va.; eight nieces and nephews; and 16 grand-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward C. Dankmyer Jr. will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, with Father Stephen Kelley as the celebrant.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Edward to The Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410.
