Elda M. Romanic

Elda M. Romanic, 78, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Byrnedale, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Nelson’s Golden Years of DuBois, following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 20, 1932 in Coal Hollow, daughter of the late Renaldo and Angelina (Bianchi) Gornati.
She married Andrew Romanic Jr., who died in 2000.
She lived most of her life in Byrnedale, was a graduate of Kersey High School and was a housewife.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, the former Bennett’s Valley Womens Club and the former Byrnedale Rod and Gun Club. She was an avid hummingbird watcher, enjoyed cooking, gardening and loved to crochet.
She is survived by three children, Kieth Romanic and his wife Trisha of Gardner Hill, Craig Romanic of St. Marys and Mary Lynne Fedor of Columbiana, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Anna) Agosti of Elisabeth; one brother, Raymond Gornati and his wife Victoria “Vicki” of Penfield; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert “Cowboy” and Rudolph “Rudy” Gornati; and one sister, Adeline Cortinovis.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elda M. Romanic will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, with Father Thomas Tyler officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Force.
Visitation will be held today from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield. It was also held Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
