Eleanor R. "Boogie" Byers

Eleanor R. "Boogie" Byers, 84, of 7190 Ridgway-St. Marys Rd., Ridgway, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 28, 2011, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 11, 1926 in Clearfield, daughter of the late John and Ruth (Ardary) Dush.
She married Maurice S. "Fats" Byers on Dec. 12, 1949, and he preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Curwensville High School. She had resided in Ridgway for most of her life and was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Girl Scouts in Ridgway, a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 92, the Senior Center, and the Silver Sneakers.
She had been employed by Keystone, Sylvania, Stackpole, Alpha Sintered, the Penn State Extension, the Ridgway High Rise, and Fedders Jewelers.
She is survived by a son, Gary S. Byers and his wife Cindi of Sharon; a daughter, Onnie L. Byers of Ridgway; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in deaty by a special friend, Stanley "Stush" Twardy; and by a brother, John "Jack" Dush.
Funeral and committal services for Eleanor R. "Boogie" Byers will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Craig W. Duffield, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
