Elk Catholic track teams split with DCC, Bradford

The Elk County Catholic track and field teams split with squads from Bradford and DuBois Central Catholic in a double dual meet held Tuesday afternoon at the ECCHS track and field complex.
The Lady Crusaders defeated the Lady Cardinals 115-29, but fell to the Lady Owls 85-65. The Crusaders recorded a 124-15 victory over the Cardinals and lost to the Owls 106-44.
"We had a positive outing today, with many members of the team, especially the younger members, setting personal and season-best times," said ECC coach John Schneider. "I am looking for the positive momentum to carry over to the West Central meet Friday."
Schneider also noted that senior Corey Koss set a new school record in the boys' pole vault with a height of 12 feet, six inches.
In the girls' meet against DCC, Elk Catholic had several double winners. Abbi Petrosky won the 110 hurdles and the 300. Victoria Dippold won the 1600 run and was a member of the winning 3200 relay team. Kirstie Wehler won the long jump and was a member of the winning 1600 relay team. Nicole Florio won the high jump and was also a member of the winning 1600 relay team. Sydney Stauffer won the triple jump and was also a member of the winning 1600 relay team. Morgan Onink was a member of both the winning 1600 relay team and the 3200 relay team.
Single winners were Julia Sweeney in the 400 dash, Jess Franco in the pole vault, Ellie Pearson in the 800 run, Marissa Heary in the javelin, Elizabeth Nicklas in the discus, and Kennedy Weisner in the 3200 run. Danielle Healy and Maggie Sorg were single winners in the 3200 relay.
In the girls' meet against Bradford, single winners for Elk Catholic were Abbi Petrosky in the 100 hurdles, Emma Daghir in the 100 dash, Julia Sweeney in the 400 dash, Sydney Stauffer in the triple jump, Nicole Florio in the high jump, and Kennedy Weisner in the 3200 run. Danielle Healy, Maggie Sorg, Morgan Onink, and Victoria Dippold were single winners in the 3200 relay.
In the boys' meet against DCC, Elk Catholic was led by triple winner Caleb Lecker, who won the 1600 run, 800 run, and was a member of the winning 1600 relay team; and Ryan Detsch, who won the 400 dash, 200 dash, and was a member of the winning 1600 relay team.
The ECC boys' team had several double winners. Kevin Kraus won the shot put and javelin. Sam Mosebarger won the 100 run and was a member of the winning 400 relay team. Jake Herbstritt won the long jump and high jump. Michael Jacob and Joe Georgino were both members of the winning 400 relay and 1600 relay teams.
Single winners for ECC were Dylan Hodgdon in the 110 hurdles, Ryan Jacobs in the 300 hurdles, Corey Koss in the pole vault, Andrew Gebauer in the triple jump, Mitchell Gahr in the discus, and winning members of the 3200 relay team Mike Lovenduski, Drew Bille, Joe Hoffman, and Lucas Knight.
In the boys' meet against Bradford, single winners for ECC were Sam Mosebarger in the 100 dash; Jake Herbstritt in the high jump; and Mike Lovenduski, Drew Bille, Joe Hoffman, and Lucas Knight in the 3200 relay.
