Elk County Solid Waste Authority reorganizes

February 2, 2012

RIDGWAY - At Tuesday's meeting of the Elk County Solid Waste Authority, the authority reorganized for 2012. After the meeting began, the members immediately went into executive session to discuss personnel matters, with no official action taken.
Russ Braun was reappointed as chairman of the authority, Robin Dubler as vice-chair and John Moran as secretary. Jim DeVittorio will continue as the authority's solicitor.
The authority received a letter from Kersey resident Tia Meredith requesting assistance with the purchase of a paper chopper for animal bedding. According to Elk County Recycling/Solid Waste Coordinator Bekki Titchner, the cost of a chopper is roughly $3,000, and they last for a long time. The authority agreed to help fund the purchase the next time they receive 902 recycling grant money, provided Meredith send them a letter indicating her interest as well as the source of the paper for the bedding.
