Emma M. Minnick
Emma M. Minnick, 99, of 318 John St., where she resided with her niece, and formerly of 136 Diamond St., St. Marys, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011.She was born Aug. 24, 1911 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Louis and Anna Blessel Lecker.In September of 1930, in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Charles H. Minnick, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1985. Mrs. Minnick was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended St. Marys schools and was a member of St. Mary's Church. She retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 33 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She also cared greatly for her pets and had a passion for writing poetry. As a testament to her German heritage, she faithfully recited her daily prayers in German. She was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by a niece, Mildred "Millie" Lecker Kraus of St. Marys, with whom she made her home for the past six years; a sister-in-law, Jane Bebble Lecker, with whom she also shared her home; three great-nieces, Cynthia, Mrs. Frank Chirillo of Collegeville, Kathleen, Mrs. Lamar Kunes of State College, and Laura, Mrs. Kenneth Smith of Wethersﬁeld, Conn; a great-nephew, Lt. Col. Gary L. Kraus Jr., USAFR, and his wife Andrea of Louisville, Ky.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and her husband of nearly 55 years, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leo F. Lecker; and by six sisters, Barbara Friedl, Bertha Schreiber, Eva Lawrence, Matilda "Tillie" Gerg, Rosemary Lecker and Agnes Krellner.A Mass of Christian Burial for Emma M. Minnick will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 139 Church St., St. Marys, on Monday, April 11 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., pastor of Sacred Heart Church, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N.
