Emma Scarano Hau

Emma Scarano Hau, 89, of 603 North West St., Coudersport, died Saturday night, Sept. 22, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine Cerro Scarano.
On July 10, 1953 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, she married William J. Hau, who preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2007.
Formerly of Johnsonburg, she resided in Coudersport for the past three years. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1941, graduated from Villa Maria College in Erie, and attended Temple University in Philadelphia.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg.
She was employed by the Johnsonburg School District for 40 years, retiring in 1987. She was also employed at Wilcox schools for several years.
She is survived by two sons, William C. Hau and his wife Patricia of Coudersport, and Christopher Hau of Palmyra; a daughter, Judy Hau of Palmyra; three grandchildren, Johnathan and Megan Hau and Jillian Dry; and a sister, Olivia Williams of Johnsonburg.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Vincent Scarano; and two sisters, Benedette Rosetto and Margaret Pisani.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Emma Scarano Hau will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
