Ernest C. "Ernie" Baughman
Ernest C. "Ernie" Baughman, 85, of 116 Gerber Rd., St. Marys, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 2, 1927, in Shippenville, son of the late Alfred and Muriel Wingard Baughman. On May 15, 1948, in St. Marys, he married Bertha L. Gerber, who survives. He had also made his home with his aunt and uncle, Robert and Mertyl Kirkland. He attended schools in Hallton and Mundorf. He had worked for Brockway Glass and retired from Stackpole Carbon Co., where he had worked for 38 years, and drove school bus for more than 50 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a coin collector and member of the Tri-County Coin Club, raised and sold blueberries, and enjoyed gardening and selling at the farmers' market. He was a member of the Bootjack Grange and the Elk County Fair Committee. He enjoyed his morning coffee with friends at McDonald's and enjoyed his cats, especially Charlie.In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shari Mazzafero and her husband John of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Thomas Ehrensberger, Timothy Wonderling, Tanya Brett, and John Wingate; six great-grandchildren, Tommy, Kristen, and Alexis Wonderling, Austin and Alicia Wonderling, and Danica Charles; a sister, Joanne Yeager (Robert) of Ridgway; two brothers, William Baughman (Donna) of Ridgway and Cecil Baughman (Lorraine) of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Donna Baughman and Gloria Baughman; one half-sister; two stepbrothers; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Ann Ehrensberger and her husband William (Bill) and their children Robbie, Kristen, and Kenny Wayne, who died in the Tocca Falls, Ga. flood in 1977; a sister, Eleanor Craig; two brothers, Robert Baughman and Dennis Baughman; and by a half-sister. Funeral services for Ernest C. "Ernie" Baughmen will be held in the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Chris Kindle, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundorf Cemetery.
