Esther J. Huff

Esther J. Huff, 95, of Weedville died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918 in Weedville, daughter of the late Saba and Marie (Pratti) Betta. In 1937, she married Virgil J. Huff, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Esther was a member of St. Joseph Church and lived all her life in Bennetts Valley. She graduated from Weedville High School in the Class of 1937 and was a homemaker. Esther was well known for her unique style of intricately detailed egg decoration.
She is survived by two children, Virginia (Jim) McClellan of Benezette and Bonnie Huff and her partner Jerry Trenn of Weedville; six grandchildren, Louie, Becky, and Rita Bonfardine, Sandy Patterson, and Brian and Thomas Huff; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Americo, Joseph and James Betta; two sisters, Alice DeMonte and Genenie Dezanet; one son, Robert "Bob" Huff; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Roy Lee and James Oliver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Esther J. Huff on Monday, March 3 at the St. Joseph Church in Force with Father Thomas Tyler presiding.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Monday, March 3 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield.
Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
The family suggests memorials to the Elk Haven Nursing Home in care of the activity center.
