Esther M. Longo

Esther M. Longo, 83, of Mill Run, Penfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at her residence.
She was born on April 4, 1929 in Caledonia, daughter of the late Alfonse Facchine and Elizabeth (Baruffalo) Facchine. She married Donato “Choppy” Longo, who preceded her in death.  
Esther was a graduate of Weedville High School and lived all of her life in Penfield. She was employed by Stackpole Carbon Co., then at St. Marys Hospital as an operating room nurse's aide for 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, the Penfield Volunteer Fireman's Club and the Valley Legion Auxiliary Post #987. She loved playing bingo and going to the casinos.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. David (Alvera) Hetrick of Byrnedale; two brothers, Leonard “Buddy” (Nadine) Facchine of St. Marys and Louis (Ann) Facchine of St. Marys; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Louis and David Longo; and by a granddaughter, Gretchin Longo.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Esther M. Longo will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force, with Father Thomas Tyler officiating.
Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Force.
Friends will be received on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral in Penfield.
