Etta C. Hicks

Etta C. Hicks, 97, of River Road, Weedville, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1915 in Kittanning, daughter of the late Harry and Floda Dell (Campbell) Brumbaugh.
She married Jesse Lee Hicks Jr. on Feb. 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1998.
Mrs. Hicks was a Bennetts Valley resident since 1950. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, embroidery, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially the Sunday dinners.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by three daughters, Gail Larkin of Weedville, Joan Roudybush of Penfield, and Mrs. Alvin (Judy) Lemmon of Kittanning; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Fetter; three sisters, Zelma Beer, Martha McKelvey and Gladys Cochran; and three brothers, Clyde, Frank and Edward Brumbaugh.
Funeral services for Etta C. Hicks will take place on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield, with the Rev. Lola Turnbull officiating.
Visitation will take place on Monday, Jan. 14 from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on Winslow Hill in Benezette. The family suggests memorials to the Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
