Eva Helena Grotzinger
Eva Helena Grotzinger, 84, of 179 Sara Rd., St. Marys, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 26, 1926 in Kersey, daughter of the late George and Anna Leismeister Auman. On Nov. 22, 1947, in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey, she married Francis J. Grotzinger, who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2000. Mrs. Grotzinger was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1943. She was also a graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Class of 1946. She was a retired Registered Nurse, working at the Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital for 48 years, many of them in the maternity department, and retired in 1995. She was a member of Queen of the World Church, the Rosary Altar Society, Oblates of St. Benedict, and she enjoyed making the traditional beaded rosaries since 1955 and the corded rosaries since 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Schultz and her husband John of New Freedom; three sons, Dr. Daniel L. Grotzinger of Indianapolis, Ind., Alvin J. Grotzinger of Thailand, and Paul F. Grotzinger of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and three sisters, Martha Baumer of Altoona, Imelda Frey of St. Marys and Mary Durling of Pittsburgh. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Grotzinger, in 1955; four sisters, Bernadette Card, Celeste Bures, Salome Schreiber, and Cecelia Cicetello; and by four brothers, Paul Auman, Eugene Auman, Francis Auman and Jerome Auman. A Mass of Christian Burial for Eva Helena Grotzinger will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, Feb. 4 at noon, with the Rev. Leon Hont, OSB, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Rd., St. Marys, PA 15857.
