The third annual Michael B. Proudfit 5K Walk/Run will be held at Memorial Park on Sunday, Aug. 3, followed by the third annual Mike Proudfit Night at the St. Marys Community Pool the following day.
Proudfit, a former swimming instructor and swim team member at the St. Marys Community Pool, was killed in an automobile accident three years ago. Following his death, the pool staff renamed the race that was previously held in conjunction with Picnic In The Park in his honor.
According to pool manager Greg Snelick, the course will remain the same as in previous years, and Rachel Schreiber is once again serving as race coordinator. A map of the course will be on display at the pool prior to the event.
Registration will take place until the morning of the race, and there is a fee to participate. All proceeds benefit the St. Marys Community Pool.
