Fire in Byrnedale

BYRNEDALE – Emergency responders battled a house fire late Friday night and into the early morning hours of Saturday at a house just off Log Cabin Lane in the area of 19850 Bennetts Valley Highway in Byrnedale.
Elk Company 3 (Fox Township) and Elk Company 5 (Jay Township) were dispatched to the fire at 11:18 p.m. along with Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
Elk Company 1 (Crystal Fire Department) and Elk Company 4 (Ridgway Fire Department) responded shortly after 11:50 p.m.
Jay Township Fire Department chief John Schneider reported on the emergency scanner that the house was engulfed in a fully involved structure fire. Eyewitness accounts indicate the second story of the two-story house had collapsed.
State Route 255 was closed off at its intersection with state Route 948 by GKN and on state Route 153 in Penfield shortly before midnight.
The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal, National Fuel, and the Electric Company were notified.
