Floyd J. "Pinky" Wickett

Floyd J. "Pinky" Wickett Sr., 96, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of Elk Towers and Martin Road, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born July 18, 1914 in St. Marys, son of the late Francis J. and Anna Schreiber Wickett.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was a retired employee of St. Marys Carbon Co.
On October 28, 1949, in Morgantown, W.V., he married Ruth M. Mertz, who preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2002.
He was a member of the Queen of the World Church, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the CMF, PFL and the American Legion.
He is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Giddings and her husband Fred of Smethport, Carol Parisi of St. Marys, Diane Christoff and her husband James of Clay, and Lisa Salter and her husband George of Emporium; a son, Floyd J. Wickett Jr. and his wife Patty of Ridgway; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred A. Wickett of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Wickett and Laurie Long; two sisters, Evelyn Sarginger and in infancy, Regina Wickett; and three brothers, Richard, Leonard and Clem Wickett.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Floyd J. "Pinky" Wickett Sr. will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday at 9 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
