Flying Dutch upset Brookville Area 55-45

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen pulled off a big upset on Tuesday evening as they handed the Brookville Area High Raiders their first setback of the season by a 55-45 score in a District Nine League encounter at the Brookville gym.
"We played a complete game tonight," said Mark Guido, head coach of the St. Marys Flying Dutch. "It was very gratifying to see the fruits of labor that the squad has been putting forth tonight."
Dylan Reigel was the top gun for the Flying Dutch on Tuesday as he sizzled the nets for a game-high 24 points on eight field goals, two treys and a two-for-two night at the line. He was followed by Justin Quiggle and Ryan Mancuso with seven points each, Ryan Uhl with six, Jimmy Werner with five, and Jordan Weinzierl, Ryan Hockman and Bobby Vollmer with two each.
Brookville was led by Zane Hackett with 14 points on six field goals and two foul goals. He was followed by Dan Ion with nine points, Kyle Baughman with seven, Tashan Mark and Ryan Zimmerman with five each, Jared Heschke with three and Seth Conner with two.
St. Marys jumped out to a 21-17 lead in the opening quarter of play, then pushed the lead to 32-23 by the time the first half of play ended.
St. Marys continued to dominate play in the third quarter, as they again outscored the Raiders by a 16-12 score to take a 48-35 lead into the final period of play.
Brookville managed to outscored St. Marys 10-7 in the final eight minutes of the game, but that wasn't enough, as the Flying Dutch held on to pick up a 55-45 victory over the previously undefeated Brookville squad.
Game notes
St. Marys is now 6 and 2 on the season and will play host to the Bradford Owls on Friday evening in another District Nine League game. The game times for Friday are 6 and 7:30 p.m.
