September 26, 2012

This camper fire, deemed arson by investigators, took place at approximately 11:36 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the 333 North St. Marys St. residence of Michael A. Scolari, a former member of the Crystal Fire Department. Scolari has been charged with arson and related offenses, insurance fraud, criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the fire and has since resigned from the fire department.
The camper was a total loss, and there was also damage to the exterior of the house and also to a vehicle that was parked next to the camper, as well as some smoke damage inside the house. Police said the arson was not connected with any of the other fires currently under investigation in Elk County.
