Fox Supervisors approve investment ordinance

April 8, 2012

In a 2-1 vote, the Fox Township Supervisors approved an investment ordinance for the township which would set aside funds in a savings account.
Of the three supervisors, Randy Gradizzi cast the opposing vote, while Supervisor Chairman Mike Keller and Dave Mattiuz voted to adopt the ordinance.
Resident Cheryl Ruffner said while she commended the supervisors on establishing an investment ordinance, she believes the ordinance is a bit "loose and could be more stringent."
Keller agreed with Ruffner but noted that having something is better than nothing.
Mattiuz did a majority of the work on creating the ordinance, which he said is more lax than originally planned and is not quite as tight, but is a good starting point.
"If conditions change, we could always put more money in it," Keller said.
Gradizzi stated that the ordinance is not guaranteed forever in that a future board of supervisors has the right to eliminate the ordinance if they want.
Gradizzi agreed the township needs to save money and make cuts wherever they can.
Keller said he considered the group "fiscally conservative supervisors."
The board also approved an occupational privilege tax ordinance during its recent meeting.
Gradizzi brought up several new items, including utilizing Pensafe as backup inspector for building and inspection services. The township previously utilized Guardian for such services, but the company is no longer in business.
The supervisors approved the township road crew to attend Clearfield Equipment and Training Day taking place Wednesday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
