FrancesÂ "Babe" Wilhelm, 90, of 1169 Windfall Rd., St. Marys, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Byrnedale, a daughter of the late Fiorillo and Marie Cortina Canton.
On Sept. 8, 1951 in Force, she married Edward H. Wilhelm, who survives.
Mrs. Wilhelm was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Weedville High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and worked for many years in the kitchen at the former Extended Care.Â She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.Â She was the last member of her immediate family.
In addition to her husband of more than 60 years, she is survived by a daughter, Denise, Mrs. Jeffrey Salter of St. Marys; three sons, Edward D. Wilhelm and his wife Judith of St. Marys, Donald Wilhelm and his companion Jane Shuttleworth of Dagus Mines, and Dale Wilhelm and his ï¬ance Nancy Giovannelli of Kersey; five grandchildren, David Wilhelm and his ï¬ance Jill Fledderman, Deanna, Mrs. Brian Thompson, E.J. Wilhelm and his ï¬ance Jennifer McCarty, Brandy Salter, and Angelee Herzing; and four great-grandchildren, Nina, Wyatt, Owen and Haley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Bruno, Angelo and Louis Canton; and by two sisters, Marie Canton in infancy and Cecelia McCluskey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Frances "Babe" Wilhelm at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 North Michael St., St. Marys, on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, OSB, pastor of St. Mary's Church, ofï¬ciating.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
