Frances M. "Mabel" Weichman, 88, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 929 Windfall Road, St. Marys, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born October 4, 1924 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Bernard and Mabel Rippy Fritz.
On February 12, 1942 in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Francis J. Weichman, who preceded her in death on October 25, 1982.
Mrs. Weichman was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Mary's Church.Â She attended St. Marys Parochial schools.Â She was a former employee of the Buccaneer Restaurant and MexAmerica.Â She enjoyed reading, playing cards, working puzzle books, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, James Weichman and his wife Patty of St. Marys; three daughters, Lois Alphonso and her husband Edward of St. Marys, Judith Davis of DuBois, and Amy Freed and her husband Alan of Ambridge; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Maynard, John and Bernard Fritz; and by five sisters, Mary Ann McBride, Rita Cleo Fritz, Edith Baruffalo, Catherine Weichman and Cleo Rita Fritz.Â She was the last member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances "Mabel" Weichman will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys, on Monday, April 15, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m.
