Frank J. “Cannonball” Carnovale

Frank J. “Cannonball” Carnovale, 92, of Market Street, Johnsonburg, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Elk Regional Hospital after a short illness.
He was born June 12, 1920 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Michael J. and Angela (Galati) Carnovale.
Mr. Carnovale was member of the Holy Rosary Church, Piedmont, Johnsonburg Moose, Legion and Sportsmen’s. He had resided in Johnsonburg all his life. He served as an MP in the Army during WWII in the Asiatic/Pacific Theaters and retired from the Johnsonburg Paper Mill in 1982 after 43 years and being part of the Woodyard Spruce Gang.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Patsy, Steve and Joseph Carnovale; five sisters, Helena Gaston, Theresa Caruso, Rose Galaezzo, Mary Zaunick and Victoria Fera.
There will be no visitation.
Private services will be held at the family’s convenience.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery
The family suggests memorials to the Johnsonburg Community Center or Library.
Ubel Funeral Home, 111 Bridge St., Johnsonburg, is entrusted with arrangements.
