RIDGWAY - The Elk County Tea Party hosted its Freedom Rally yesterday morning to a large audience on the steps of the Elk County Courthouse.
Among the many guest speakers were U.S. Representative Glenn 'GT' Thompson (PA-5) and State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk).
"What a wonderful glorious day to celebrate the birth of our nation," Thompson said. "When I look around the world, I see a world of bloodshed, a world in violent protest. Whether if it's in North Africa, Asia or the Middle East, people in the streets all are in search of liberty and freedom and those are sure blessed things, and I hope and pray as a result democracy will follow in those parts of the world.
"When I see those things, it just reminds me of how blessed we are that we are citizens of the freest nation in the history of the world, the United States of America, and that is a freedom that has to be earned. It had to be earned in 1776 and it had to be earned each year since then."
Following his presentation, Thompson allotted time to answer the public's questions.
