Future fireworks may fizzle out if fundraising goal not reached

June 26, 2012

With less than one week remaining until the annual Independence Day Celebration sponsored by the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce, organizers continue to work diligently to drum up donations for the 2012 Fireworks Fund.
The fund currently stands at 63 percent of its $18,000 goal, leaving $6,570.42 yet to be raised.
"It's getting down to the wire and we still have a long, long way to go," said Ashley O'Dell, chamber outreach coordinator. "The cost of the show is the same this year, it's just that it's a different show with an electronic firing system versus manually lighting them. It's safer."
