MT. ZION – Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) dedicated around a hundred new pavers at the Mt. Zion Historic Park during a Memorial Day ceremony held at the site on Saturday afternoon.
Gabler began by remarking that the first thing that came to his mind when he stepped up to the microphone was "thankfulness."
“That’s really what we’re here for to commemorate on Memorial Day. We’re thankful for the efforts of those brave men and women who have gone before us who have made all of this possible,” Gabler said.
He noted that the event marked the third occasion that he has been to the Mt. Zion Historic Park, and referred to his participation in the dedication ceremonies as “quite an honor.”
“What a year the Mt. Zion Historical Society has had,” Gabler said. “Up until last year, I believe there were 43 and this year we are adding another hundred.”
