Gayle M. Day, 69, of 759 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 27, 1943 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Isadore and Esther Hanes. In 1971, in Ridgway, she married James Day, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1992.
Mrs. Day was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church. She enjoyed playing cards and baking, and she had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori A. Olson of St. Marys; two stepdaughters, Julia Izbinski (Thomas) of St. Marys and Lisa Day of Brockway; a son, Matthew Day and his companion Brenda Beck of Kersey; six grandchildren, Steven Olson, Jessica Olson, Ashley Caggiano-Mitchom, Shaena Caggiano, Mark Lang, and Jessie Day; a sister, Janice DeSalve of Treasure Lake; and two brothers, Harvey Hanes (Nancy) of St. Marys and Robert Hanes of St. Marys.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Bricen and Joan Fuenffinger; and by two brothers, Kenneth Hanes and Donald Hanes.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gayle M. Day will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
