Gene L. Gasbarre

Gene L. Gasbarre, 85, formerly of 121 Polk Ave., Ridgway died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Snyder Memorial Health Care in Marienville.
He was born May 21, 1928 in Ridgway, son of the late Zachary and Angela (DiNardo) Gasbarre.
He married Hilda J. Winters on December 28, 1950, and she preceded him in death on June 11, 2012.
He had resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a graduate of St. Leo High School. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, the American Legion, and the Martini Stock Club. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed by Ridgway Color for 40 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Debra Love (David) of Kersey; three grandsons, Kyle Love (Daysha) of Pittsburgh, Christopher Love of State College, and Zachary Love of Kersey; two brothers, Zachary Gasbarre of Weedville and John Gasbarre (Eva) of Johnsonburg; two sisters, Julia Ellard of Pleasanton, Calif. and Martha Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Gasbarre; four brothers, Robert, Victor, Dominick, and George Gasbarre; and two sisters, Louise Gasbarre and Elizabeth Rees.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal for Gene L. Gasbarre will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Monday at 2 p.m. with military honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Leo Catholic Church or to the Ridgway Ambulance Corp.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
