George M. Uhl

George M. Uhl, 83, of 718 Uhl Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday evening, April 10, 2012, at the UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie after a brief illness.
He was born June 18, 1928, in St. Marys, son of the late John T. and Edna Schaberl Uhl. On April 30, 1955, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Marie T. Wilhelm, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 1995.
He was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor with Feldbauer & Uhl, Inc.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church; an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Second Armored Division; and he was a member of the American Legion, the Second Armored Division Association, and the AARP.
He is survived by two sons, John A. Uhl of St. Marys and George M. Uhl Jr. and his wife Debbie of DuBois; four daughters, Geralyn Meleason and her husband Paul of Erie, Barbara Herman and her husband Dave of Springfield, Va., Theresa (Tracy) Fugagli and her husband Ken of Erie, and Jeanette C. Uhl of Franklin; and 10 grandchildren, Matt Herman and his wife Kim of Cary, N.C., Kristin Herman, Missy Herman, Paul Meleason, Marie Meleason, Samantha Fugagli, Kenny Fugagli, Michelle Fugagli, Joe Fugagli, and Christopher Uhl.
Family and friends of George M. Uhl are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Friday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
