George "Pizza" Pirraglia

George "Pizza" Pirraglia, 62, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Penfield, died late Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 31, 1949 in DuBois, son of the late Anthony "Dent" and Dolly (Cota) Pirraglia.
He was a graduate of DuBois High School and the ICM Business School with an associates degree in Computer Programming. He served in the Army as a Flight Engineer maintaining Chinook Helicopters, spending 18 months in Vietnam. He was the owner/operator of Pizza's Beverage of Penfield since 1974. He was also a member of the Penfield United Methodist Church, Penfield Firemen's Club, Kersey Eagles 727, Weedville American Legion Post 978, Fox Township Volunteer Fire Company, and Dagus Mines American Legion Post 511.
Mr. Pirraglia was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He bowled in many leagues including DuBois, St. Marys, Kersey, and Philipsburg. He was a PSBA Western Area Director, St. Marys Bowling Association President and Hall of Famer, a member of the Allegheny Mountain Board of Directors, and a St. Marys County League President for 20 years.
He lived all his life in Penfield and the past 10 years with Laverne and Shirley.
He is survived by two children, Heather L. and Andy Gayton of Lakeland, Fla., and Timothy R. Pirragia of Penfield; a grandchild; and a brother, A. Dennis and Kay Pirraglia of Mifflinburg.
Funeral Services for George "Pizza" Pirraglia will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19 at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield with Pastor Debra Rogosky officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Weedville American Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
