George R. Zamboldi

George R. Zamboldi, 84, of Linden, Mich., died November 19, 2013.
He was born April 20, 1929 in New Bethlehem, the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Berti) Zamboldi.
He was educated at the St. Marys schools and attended Duquesne University on a football scholarship. He proudly served his country in the army during the Korean conflict, in counter intelligence. He was employed for many years at Airco Speer Carbon Company in St. Marys, and then started his own manufacturers rep company.
He was married to Rita A. Wortman on October 7, 1950 in St. Marys, and they have resided in Linden since 1995. Mr. Zamboldi was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus and The Elks Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Lisa (Dennis) Simbeck, Julia Potts, Joseph (Julie) Zamboldi, Ann (G. Bradley) Back, John Zamboldi, and George Zamboldi; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Inez Kneidel.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry "Rex" and Aldo.
He was a man of sheer devotion, to his family, his friends, and his creed. Risen to a higher life, now his spirit is free. Always and forever in our hearts, we love you "Papa".
A Funeral Mass for George R. Zamboldi will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 22 at St.Augustine Catholic Church, 6481 Faussett Rd., Howell, Mich.
Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. today, Thursday, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden, Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, Mich. Visitation will include a vigil service at 8 p.m.
