Georgiana Louise Simchick

Georgiana Louise Simchick, 65, of 1625 Bendigo Rd., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 23, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 29, 1947 in Ridgway, daughter of George and the late Mary Chupa Cherry.
She married Richard Simchick on Jan. 29, 1966 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg; he survives.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life. She graduated from Elk County Christian High School and received a B.S. degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She was also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course in Public Speaking.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, where she was a member of the church choir and a Eucharistic Minister, and she was past member of the Johnsonburg School Board. She was a current member of the Ridgway Township Planning Commission. She was also involved in fundraising for Elk County Christian High School for many years.
She had been employed in the past as a private nurse for many years. She had also been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years.
In addition to her father, George Cherry of Johnsonburg, and her husband, she is survived by a son, Christopher "Chris" Simchick and his wife Tanya of Murrysville; a daughter, Lynn, Mrs. Thomas Buttery of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Zachary and Morgan Simchick, and Sophia and Max Buttery; three sisters, Diane, Mrs. Nick Cumos of Pittsburgh, Sylvia "Cindy," Mrs. Gary Carnesali of Johnsonburg, and Eva Hyatt of Laurenburg, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
A funeral service for Georgiana L. Simchick will be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Monday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m.
