Gertrude “Gerty” Fitch

Gertrude “Gerty” Fitch, age 85, of Terra Cotta Road, Johnsonburg, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at the Lutheran Home at Kane after an illness of the past six months.
She was born Oct. 9, 1926 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late John and Julia (Bedner) Raubenstrauch
On Oct. 19, 1946, she married Fred D. Fitch; he preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2006.
A graduate of Johnsonburg High School, she worked for more than 40 years with Stackpole Carbon. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and enjoyed crocheting and making ceramics. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived all her life in Johnsonburg.
She is survived by one son, Philip (Patricia) Fitch of Wilcox; four grandchildren, Frederick (Dee) Fitch of Roulette, Timothy (Noreen) Fitch of Wilcox, Michael (JoAnn) Fitch of Duncansville, and Jeffery (Jessica) Fitch of New Galilee; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Andrew, Jack, Stephen and Frank Fitch; one sister, Mary Oertly; and one daughter, Phyllis, in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude "Gerty" Fitch will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Johnsonburg, with Father David Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg,
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
