Gloria Zebker Curtis Schaffer

November 18, 2010

Gloria Zebker Curtis Schaffer of New York City died on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 in New York City.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1933, in Emporium, daughter of the late Pauline Wheaton Zebker. She married Hyman Schaffer, who survives.
She lived in New York City for over 50 years. She graduated from the Barbizon School of Modeling on 5th Avenue in New York City, and entered the fashion world following graduation. Her picture graced many magazines and she appeared regularly on early television and was part of entertainment shows on the Las Vegas Strip. In her later years she remained in the fashion world by running bridal shows and other fashion shows. She always showed the world her self-confidence, poise and style learned from her training and work. However, she never forgot her beginnings in Emporium, her friends, family and her need to help others.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a sister, Donna (Donald) Pearson of Empoirum; a brother, Walter (Marlene) Zebker of Grand Island, NY; longtime friend, Theresa (Miglicio) Vizza, whom she first met while working at the Cabin Kitchen in Emporium as a teenager; and another longtime friend, Evelyn (Smith) Strahl, whom she enjoyed riding horses with.
Gloria always made her own decisions and for her final resting place, she has chosen to come home to Emporium.
