Gretchen Straub Smith

Gretchen Straub Smith, 69, of 114 Melody Rd., St. Marys, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, unexpectedly at her home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1941, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Frank E. and Marguerite Bender Straub.
On April 15, 1987 in Dagus Mines, she married Gary E. Smith, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1959. She was a former employee of the Community Nurses. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church, a volunteer for Letters From Home and was the Straub family historian for over 40 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn Hogan and her husband, Thomas, of St. Marys, and Anne Posteraro and her husband, Gregory, of DuBois; three sons, Steven Coppella and his wife, Connie, of St. Marys, Michael Coppella of Enterprise, Ala., and Shawn Lee Coppella of Mauldin, S.C.; a step-daughter, Rebecca Rawsky of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two step-sons, James Smith of Easton and Joshua Smith of Indiana; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lee Bankovic of St. Marys; and two brothers, Frank X. Straub and his wife, Kitty, of St. Marys and Richard B. Straub and his wife, Kitty, of St. Marys.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Posteraro and by her first husband, John Coppella.
Due to renovations at Queen of the World Church, a Mass of Christian Burial for Gretchen Straub Smith will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at noon, with the Rev. Michael Ferrick officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
