The downtown St. Marys hotel project took a leap forward on Tuesday as a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future site of Cobblestone Hotel and Suites, situated on the corner of Fourth and Depot streets.
The $6.5 million project is an endeavor spearheaded by local project developer Todd "Booka" Hanes of Creekside Hospitality which includes partners John Schatz, Mike Faulk and Dean Hanes.
Construction is slated to begin the first week of July with an anticipated opening the first week of January.
"This hotel is really going to help transform the downtown area of St. Marys and capture a growing hospitality market demand for not only St. Marys but the North Central Pa. region," said Christopher Rosselot, spokesman for Hotel d2 Services, a project partner. "It's really going to accommodate both business travelers as well as recreational and leisure travelers and take advantage of some local amenities we have here today."
