Grumley honored for educational contributions

Photo by Amy Cherry South St. Marys Street Elementary Principal Bob Grumley was presented with a plaque honoring his many years as an educator with the district. Grumley is set to retire on June 30. The plaque was presented by Bob Luchini, St. Marys Area School District school board president, during the board's Monday meeting.

Grumley was hired in 1999 as SMAHS principal and was transferred to SSMSE as principal in 2001. Superintendent Ann Kearney described Grumley as being a legend in the district and has been highly respected.
"He knows his students and parents and has led the school to high levels of academic achievement. He has certainly 'touched the future'," Kearney said. She wished Grumley and his wife Maria best of luck in their retirements.
