Hamlin supervisors hold off approval for Shell waiver

January 17, 2012

HAZEL HURST – The Hamlin Township Board of Supervisors still hasn't made a decision on a Shell request for a waiver in the Stormwater Management Ordinance (SMO).
Shell several months ago asked the supervisors for the waiver for a pipeline project linked with a Marcellus Shale natural gas well off Detrick Road, which intersects with Route 6 at the Family Drive-In in Wetmore Township.
The pipeline project site is in the vicinity of Forest Road 186 in the Allegheny National Forest.
Acting at a meeting earlier this month, Hamlin Supervisors Don Compton, Guy Raught and Joni Britton voted to table the waiver request until more information is received.
Action on the request could come at the next board meeting Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the township building in Hazel Hurst.
