Harry J. "Buck" Sample

Harry J. "Buck" Sample, 86, of 61 Kane St., Wilcox, died Friday evening, Feb. 21, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, following a short illness.
He was born June 30, 1927 in Instanter, son of John "Jack" Samuel and Dorothy Kemp Sample.
He married Dolores Rusalem on July 28, 1951 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. She died Jan. 8, 2008.
He attended Wilcox schools and resided in Wilcox all his life.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Rasselas, Wilcox American Legion Post 467, and the Wilcox Sportsmen's Club.
He was a WWII Army veteran serving overseas as a sergeant with B Troop 2nd Combat Squadron.
He was employed by Penntech Papers of Johnsonburg for 37 years before retiring in 1988.
He is survived by a son, Richard "Rick" Sample of Wilcox; two grandchildren, Leah Sample and Theresa Sample, both of St. Marys; one great-grandchild, Calvin Sample of Johnsonburg; two brothers, Jim Sample and his wife Georgeanne of Smethport, and Joseph Sample and his wife Kathleen "Kathy" of Hickory, N.C.; five sisters, Jean "Norma" Swanson of Rasselas, Julie, Mrs. Tim Valentine of St. Marys, Joyce, Mrs. Tim Smart of Clyde, NC, Joanne, Mrs. David Andrus of Howard Siding, and Leone Sigworth of West Middlesex; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Jack Sample; a brother, Jeffrey; seven sisters, Jane Barber, Janet Howard, June Sample, Gertrude Northrop, Margaret Almira "Pie" Smith, Mary Ann Stearns and Betty Allegretto.
There will be no services or visitation for Harry J. "Buck" Sample.
Interment will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas
