Hearing is slated for driver in 6-fatality crash

SMETHPORT – A preliminary hearing for the alleged drug-influenced driver in a six-fatality traffic accident is tentatively scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 before Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman.The driver-- Kathleen S. Douglas, 37, of Kane-- is charged with manslaughter in the horrific accident Aug. 31 on Route 219 near Lantz Corners.Douglas faces 35 charges, including 15 felonies linked with the accident that killed her 12-year-old daughter, Olivia, her 6-year-old nephew Jarrett Costanzo of Kane and four members of a St. Marys family.
