Helen Louise Shafer

Helen Louise Shafer, 79, of 3033 Dagus Hill St., Daguscahonda, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Oakland, Md., the daughter of the late Charles R. and Margaret Hardesty Jordan. She married Joseph X. Shafer, who predeceased her on Jan. 23, 2002.
Mrs. Shafer was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ. She retired from Quality Components. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by four children, Sharon Park (Carl) of Ridgway, Gloria Decker (Richard) of Ridgway, Betty Jo Casper (Perry) of Kersey, and Charles R. Shafer of Daguscahonda; three grandchildren, Heidi Thomas, Michel Park, and Brandi Jo Casper; three great-grandchildren, Breanna Park, Carli Thomas, and Drew Thomas; a sister, Mary Ellen Bolitiski of Daguscahonda; and many nieces and nephews, including Robert and Carol Sweitzer of Daguscahonda, who took loving care of her.
Funeral and committal services for Helen Louise Shafer will be held at the Faith United Church of Christ on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at 11 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen Fair, pastor. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
