Helen M. Wiesner, 90, of 183 Center St., Elk Towers, and formerly of 220 Ford Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
She was born March 5, 1920 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Nichlaus and Elizabeth Dippold Grasser.
On Oct. 11, 1947 in the St. Maryâ€™s Church, she married William F. Wiesner, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1988.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church, volunteered at the Queen of the World cafeteria, was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Rosary Altar Society and Oblates of St. Benedict, and volunteered at the Christian Food Bank. She enjoyed her grandchildren, reading and bingo.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth â€śBettyâ€ť Sharrow and her husband, James, of St. Marys; a son, Thomas Wiesner and his wife, Rita, of St. Marys; eight grandchildren, Yvonne Scott, Janet Musser, William Wiesner, Kyle Wiesner, Keith Sharrow, Wayne Sharrow, Joseph Sharrow and Catherine Pirschel; and by seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret Seelye, Philomena Blashock, Dorothy Zawatski, Loretta Erich, Mary Grasser, and a sister in infancy; and three brothers, John, George and Joseph Grasser. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Due to renovations at Queen of the World Church, a Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. Wiesner will be celebrated at the St. Maryâ€™s Church on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Ferrick officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Maryâ€™s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
